CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Maryland Assembly on School-Based Health Care 12th Annual Conference<

Thursday May 18th, 2017 — The Meeting House — Columbia, MD

The Maryland Assembly on School Based Health Care (MASBHC) is seeking experts to present at our 12th Annual Conference, Building Linkages for Healthier Students. MASBHC’s Annual Conference will take place at The Meeting House in Columbia, Maryland on Thursday May 18th, 2017. We are looking for presentations that will reflect new research and innovation, as well as updates in policy implications for school based health care.

MASBHC is an advocacy organization that promotes school-based health care as a means to advance the belief that all Maryland children and youth have a basic fundamental right to have access to and receive comprehensive, quality health care. School-based health care represents an essential strategy toward improving the lives of Maryland’s children and their families and optimizing their ability to become contributing members of society.  MASBHC’s Annual Conference is the premier professional development opportunity for school based health providers and staff in the state of Maryland. MASBHC’s annual conference brings the latest research and evidence based programming to school based health care providers, school administrators, behavioral staff, auxiliary staff, and community partners working in the state of Maryland.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

Please submit a 250 word abstract on one of the following topics. In your submission please indicate what format your presentation will be (i.e. individual speaker, panel, interactive practice, etc.). Please submit your entry to Sapna Hencinski at [email protected]

  • Clinical/Evidence Based Practices
    • Topics we have included in past conferences include: cardiac assessments, oral health and dental emergencies, and supporting students with chronic illnesses. 2017 requested topics include: asthma, sports physicals, and dermatology.
  • Mental Health
    • We hope to include a combination of mental health sessions that are geared towards practitioners and school social workers/ counselors.
  • Policy
    • Potential topics could include billing and coding, Medicaid reimbursement, electronic medical records, and grant and resource opportunities for SBHCs.

Submission Deadlines
Deadline for submission: December 9th, 2016
Notification of acceptance:  January 15th, 2017
Deadline for final paper/PowerPoint submission:  April 1st, 2017
